Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), Professional Art Therapist
MA (candidate), DTATI, BFA
As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and professional art therapist, I provide art and verbal psychotherapy for youth, adults, and older adults whose concerns may include self-worth, loss and grief, depression, stress, anxiety, social isolation, and transitions in life. I completed my graduate-level diploma in art therapy from the Toronto Art Therapy Institute, and have worked in rehabilitation, hospitals, long-term care, and community mental health organisations providing art psychotherapy for adults and older adults with concerns such as multiple chronic illnesses, dementia, eating disorders, and mood disorders. I am always looking for ways to expand my perspective and awareness, and believe that art therapy can help eliminate physical and even linguistic barriers when individuals are given space and support for self-expression, creative exploration, and sharing their stories.
I am open to working with any person at any age, though my clients are usually youth, adults, or older adults, individually or in group therapy. Our session together may integrate art therapy, person-centred and strength-based theories, and mindfulness for a healing and changing process that feels right for you as an individual. I have training in Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and am in the process of learning Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I am a registered member of the Canadian Art Therapy Association and the Ontario Art Therapy Association.
Outside of sessions, I look forward to long hikes being surrounded by nature, cuddling with my big dog, exploring my own creativity, and working on my spirituality.
