Nurse Practitioner Psychotherapist

Shannon Wright

Shannon Wright RN(EC) NP-PHC, MSc., MACP, CPMHN(C)

Shannon Wright is a Nurse Practitioner Psychotherapist, registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario. She brings compassion, openness and patience to create a safe, non-judgemental space for people to explore, heal and grow.

Shannon’s training and education is quite unique in that she has degrees in two different professions with different focuses, even though they are both in the mental health field.
Shannon completed her first master’s degree in science while concurrently completing her Nurse Practitioner education and diploma. For Shannon, a highlight of this learning was the concept of neuroplasticity–the brain’s remarkable ability to adapt and change throughout life, offering opportunities for learning, recovery, and adaptation to various challenges. Her second master’s degree was in Counselling Psychology where she learned more about intersectionality and mental health, and how this can impact an individual’s experiences and outcomes.

Over the 20 + years of her career, Shannon has blended these two therapeutic focuses to develop a broad view of humanity and mental health. Shannon recognizes that everyone experiences a range of emotions and thoughts, and that mental well-being is essential for a fulfilling life. In her practice, Shannon emphasizes the interconnectedness of individual mental health with social, cultural, and environmental factors. Implementing this approach to therapy, allows Shannon to support individuals as they work towards a state of well-being where they begin living intentionally and align their actions with their values and aspirations.
